We’re thrilled to unveil an exciting new collaboration on Earth Day (Tuesday, 22 April 2025), featuring contributions from iconic UK & Irish artists such as Guy Garvey, The Pogues, Hot Wax, and many more.
The UK & Ireland Nature X Music Map, developed by Music Declares Emergency (MDE) and WWF UK, is an interactive experience that celebrates the powerful connection between nature and the UK & Irish music scene. It highlights the natural spaces that have inspired some of the UK & Ireland's’s most beloved artists, showcasing the landscapes that have shaped their music.
Launching on Earth Day, the map not only explores the natural influences behind the music, but also underscores the importance of preserving the UK’s landscapes. These natural spaces are crucial not just for their cultural significance, but for their essential role in supporting mental and physical wellbeing.
As Guy Garvey of Elbow shares:
"It was summer, and the memory of the endless day and those fabulous creatures connects me to the world in a really meaningful way. To think that this life is going on all the time is a wonderful feeling. And I love birds. Which is why they are on every Elbow record in some way or another."
This map follows MDE and WWF’s recent partnership, where they collaborated with UK & Irish artists for Earth Hour last month, creating the NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET playlists available on WWF’s Spotify.
Join us as we celebrate the beauty of nature and music, and the importance of protecting the spaces that inspire both.
